A bridge piercing is a body piercing through the skin on the bridge of the nose, usually directly between the eyes of the wearer. The bridge piercing is also known as an "Erl" or "Earl" piercing, after its first recipient, Erl van Aken. A variation on this piercing, the vertical bridge piercing is a surface piercing, with all of the risks or potential complications related to surface piercings.

The risk of rejection is quite high for this piercing, as it is a surface piercing. There is also a high risk of scarring when the jewellery is removed

A Christina piercing is a female genital piercing. It is located where the outer labia meet, below the pubic mound. Unless the recipient has an extremely sympathetic anatomy, Christinas are usually considered surface piercings and have a high rejection rate. Due to anatomical variation, it is not possible with every woman. The piercing does not facilitate sexual stimulation and can be found uncomfortable when pressure is applied, for example when wearing tight trousers.

Healing 3 to 4 months

The piercing usually heals in 3 to 4 months. Because it involves a surface piercing, it can lead to complications during the healing phase. Further difficulties develop due to the relatively long piercing canal and constant movement and friction. In addition to infection, the Christina piercing also is inclined to wash out. As soon as it is completely healed, the jewelry should be taken out before shaving the intimate vulva or mons pubis areas.

Monroe piercing

A Monroe piercing is a piercing placed off-centre in the upper lip, meant to resemble a beauty mark; it is also known as a 'Madonna' or 'Crawford'. The three variations of the name for the piercing bear their names from famous female icons: Marilyn Monroe, Madonna, and Cindy Crawford. The piercings bear the same name no matter which side of the lip is pierced; some sources incorrectly state that a left piercing is a Monroe and a right is a Madonna.

This piercing is usually done with a 14g labret (chin) or 16g labret (chin), which is then shortened after healing. The labrets used often have a metal ball or a jewel. It's a piercing that has a more recent history, unlike others that were popularized in the late 70s and 80s. Seen in the mid/late 90s on the bassist of the band Coal Chamber, Rayna. Celebrities with the Monroe piercing include Travis McCoy, of Gym Class Heroes, Amy Winehouse, Ashley Massaro, Christine Dolce aka ForBiddeN, Mutya Buena of former Sugababes fame, and Trace Cyrus, of Metro Station. In the past decade, the Monroe piercing has become associated with the mainstream, due to acts such as Amy Winehouse.
